Ferry services from Cape Cod's Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven (45 minutes) is the main year-round passenger and vehicle route, while in season several companies operate daily passenger ferries from Woods Hole, Falmouth (1 hour), Hyannis (1 hour, 45 minutes), New Bedford (1 hour, 30 minutes) and Nantucket (2 hours). In season ferries ply routes to both Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. All ferry terminals have parking lots where you can leave your car overnight or longer for a fee.

Plymouth and Brockton and Bonanza Bus Lines both run coach services connecting New York and Boston with the ferry services to Martha's Vineyard. However, the bus terminal is a bit of a hike from the ferry terminal so it's a good idea not to take too much luggage with you. On the island, there are local buses running regularly between the towns, making it easy to get around.
